Call to Worship - Psalm 96:1-13

(Click below to view reading.)

Oh sing to the LORD a new song; Sing to the LORD, all the earth!
Sing to the LORD, bless His name; Tell of His salvation from day to day.
Declare His glory among the nations,
His marvelous works among all the peoples!
For great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised;
He is to be feared above all gods.
For all the gods of the peoples are worthless idols,
But the LORD made the heavens.
Splendor and majesty are before Him;
Strength and beauty are in His sanctuary.
Ascribe to the LORD, O families of the peoples,
Ascribe to the L
ORD glory and strength!
Ascribe to the LORD the glory due His name;
Bring an offering, and come into His courts!
Worship the LORD in the splendor of holiness, Tremble before Him, all the earth!
Say among the nations, "The LORD reigns! Yes, the world is established;
It shall never be moved; He will judge the peoples with equity.”
Let the heavens be glad, and let the earth rejoice;
Let the sea roar, and all that fills it.
Let the field exult, and everything in it!
Then shall all the trees of the forest sing for joy before the L
ORD,
For He comes, for He comes to judge the earth.
He will judge the world in righteousness, and the peoples in His faithfulness.

Songs of Praise & Adoration

All Creatures of Our God and King    (audio link)

(verse 1)
All creatures of our God and King,
Lift up your voice and with us sing. Alleluia! Alleluia!
Thou burning sun with golden beam, Thou silver moon with softer gleam,
O praise Him, O praise Him! Alleluia, Alleluia, Alleluia!

(verse 2)
Thou rushing wind that art so strong,
Ye clouds that sail on heav’n along, O praise Him! Alleluia!
Thou rising morn, in praise rejoice. Ye lights of evening, find a voice,
O praise Him! O praise Him! Alleluia, Alleluia, Alleluia!

(verse 3)
All ye who are of tender heart,
Forgiving others, take your part. Sing His praises! Alleluia!
Ye who long pain and sorrow bear, Praise God and on Him cast your care,
O praise Him, O praise Him! Alleluia, Alleluia, Alleluia!

(verse 4)
Let all things their Creator bless,
And worship Him in humbleness, O praise Him! Alleluia!
Praise, praise the Father, praise the Son, And praise the Spirit, Three in One,
O praise Him! O praise Him! Alleluia, Alleluia, Alleluia!

How Deep the Father’s Love for Us    (video link)

(verse 1)
How deep the Father's love for us,
How vast beyond all measure,
That He should give His only Son
To make a wretch His treasure.
How great the pain of searing loss,
The Father turns His face away,
As wounds which mar the Chosen One,
Bring many sons to glory.

(verse 2)
Behold the man upon a cross,
My sin upon His shoulders,
Ashamed I hear my mocking voice
Call out among the scoffers.
It was my sin that held Him there,
Until it was accomplished.
His dying breath has brought me life,
I know that it is finished.

(verse 3)
I will not boast in anything,
No gifts, no power, no wisdom,
But I will boast in Jesus Christ,
His death, and resurrection.
Why should I gain from His reward?
I cannot give an answer,
But this I know with all my heart,
His wounds have paid my ransom.

Confession

Scripture Reading: Jeremiah 9:23-24

Thus says the LORD: "Let not the wise man boast in his wisdom,
let not the mighty man boast in his might,
let not the rich man boast in his riches,
but let him who boasts boast in this,
that he understands and knows me,
that I am the LORD who practices steadfast love, justice,
and righteousness in the earth.
For in these things I delight, declares the LORD."

Be Still My Soul    (audio link)

(verse 1)
Be still, my soul! The Lord is on thy side.
Bear patiently the cross of grief or pain.
Leave to thy God to order and provide.
In every change He faithful will remain.
Be still my soul! Thy best, thy heavenly Friend,
Through thorny ways leads to a joyful end.

(verse 2)
Be still, my soul! Thy God doth undertake
To guide the future as He has the past.
Thy hope, thy confidence let nothing shake.
All now mysterious shall be bright at last.
Be still, my soul! The waves and winds still know
His voice who ruled them while He dwelt below.

(verse 3)
Be still, my soul! The hour is hastening on
When we shall be forever with the Lord,
When disappointment, grief and fear are gone,
Sorrow forgot, love’s purest joys restored.
Be still, my soul! When change and tears are past,
All safe and blessed we shall meet at last.

Praying for One Another

Ephesians 1:11-14 says, “In Him we have obtained an inheritance, having been predestined according to the purpose of Him who works all things according to the counsel of His will, so that we who were the first to hope in Christ might be to the praise of His glory. In Him you also, when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation, and believed in Him, were sealed with the promised Holy Spirit, who is the guarantee of our inheritance until we acquire possession of it, to the praise of His glory.

Let’s go to the Lord together in prayer:

  • Thank the Lord for all of His promises that we have just read above
    from Ephesians 1:11-14.
  • Thank the Lord for our mothers on this Mothers’ Day. We also recognize that this is a day of both joy and sorrow for some of our church family. Please pray for God's comfort for those who have experienced loss.
  • Continue to pray for the health, physical and financial needs of others in our church family during this time of isolation.
  • Continue to pray for God to show us, by His Spirit how we can best show the love of Christ to our family, friends, neighbors, and co-workers during this time of isolation.
  • Continue to pray for the health, physical, and financial needs of our missionary families.
  • Continue to pray for Pastor Weyland, Jesse, and our elders as they make decisions for our congregation.
  • Continue to pray that God would give wisdom and guidance to our national, state, and local government leaders and that they would seek His face.

Song of Response

God the Uncreated One    (video link)

(verse 1)
God, the uncreated One, the Author of salvation,
Who wrote the laws of space and time,
And fashioned worlds to His design.
The One whom angel hosts revere
Hung the stars like chandeliers,
Numbered every grain of sand,
Knows the heart of every man,
He is King forever, He is King forever,
He is King forevermore.

(verse 2)
God our fortress and our strength,
The Rock on which we can depend.
Matchless in His majesty, His power and authority,
Unshaken by the schemes of man, never changing Great I Am.
Kingdoms rise and kingdoms fall, He is faithful through it all.
Crown Him King forever, crown Him King forever,
Crown Him King forevermore.

(verse 3)
Mighty God in mortal flesh, forsaken by a traitor's kiss.
The curse of sin and centuries
Did pierce the lowly Prince of Peace.
Lifted high, the sinless man, crucified, the spotless Lamb,
Buried by the sons of man, rescued by the Father's hand,
To reign as King forever, reign as King forever,
Reign as King forevermore.

(verse 4)
King eternal, God of grace,
We crown You with the highest praise.
Heaven shouts and saints adore, You're holy, holy, holy Lord!
What joy in everlasting life, all is love and faith is sight.
Justice rolls and praises rise at the name of Jesus Christ.
King of kings forever, King of kings forever,
King of kings forevermore.
