"One generation shall commend Your works to another,
and shall declare Your mighty acts." - Psalm 145:4
SPRING SUNDAY SCHOOL FOR YOUTH & CHILDREN - APRIL 11 - MAY 16
Join us for a six-week session of Sunday school classes for youth/children grades PreK-12 this spring starting Sunday, April 11, from 9-10am. Information about our vision for family ministry, class descriptions, and how to register are listed below.
VISION FOR FAMILY MINISTRY
We are responsible to declare the mighty works of God to the next generation (Deut. 6:7, Psalm 145:4). The central and supreme work of God in all history is the gospel. The fundamental need of both adults and children is to behold the glory of God through the message of the gospel of Christ. We are therefore committed as a local body and as parents to teach our children the gospel from all of Scripture, and to model gospel living to them by our lives.
We are committed to making corporate and personal efforts to call on God in order to faithfully fulfill our God-given responsibilities. We see that our love and help towards one another includes faithfully praying to God on their behalf. We are committed to praying for the next generation. That they would love Jesus Christ as their Savior at an early age, love wisdom from Him and be “like a tree, planted by streams of water” and grow into strong “Oaks of Righteousness” planted by the Lord.

HOW CAN I VOLUNTEER IN FAMILY MINISTRY?
The opportunities in Family Ministry are varied enough to involve many different people with different gifts. If you have a heart for God and a desire to make him known to the young people of our church, there is probably a place for you in these ministries. Our volunteer application process is designed to help determine where our opportunities and your gifts and interests meet.
We prayerfully consider every person who applies to partner with parents in ministry to our young people. Volunteers who serve children, youth, or young adults (birth–Sr. High) are required to fill out an application and complete a screening process. We take very seriously our responsibility to diligently work through every stage of the application process, and to do it in a timely manner.
The first step is to print and fill out our Family Ministry Volunteer Application. A few documents that are referenced in this application are listed below and should be reviewed:
- The Heights Church Covenant
- The Heights Church Congregational Affirmation of Faith
- Policies and Definitions Regarding Inappropriate Behavior
- Family Ministry Training Manual
Thank you for considering pursuing the Vision for Family Ministry!
