Created to Sing!
We are created to sing of God’s immeasurable worth, to declare His glory, and to tell of His salvation through Jesus Christ to all peoples. One way that we can let God’s Word dwell in us richly is to fill ourselves with the richness of Bible-saturated, God-exalted, Christ-centered lyrics from hymns that have been written throughout the centuries.
To learn some of these great hymns, we’re excited to launch a church-wide Hymn Memory Challenge for all ages young and old.
Here’s How it Works!
- We’ve compiled a list of hymnsfor you/your family to start memorizing at home. Volume 1 is included below (along with links to download sheetmusic/lyrics) and Volume 2 will be released spring 2023. Some of the hymns you may already know and others may be new to you. Begin to learn and memorize them at your own pace. You can also pick up a Hymn Memory Packet at church that includes printed sheet music/lyrics for all of the hymns (located at our information table).
- When you think you have a hymn memorized (at leasts 3 of the verses), try singing it from memory to one of your family members or friends in person or over the phone/online. Then, keep track of the hymns you have memorized by printing out a hymn checklist (PDF).
- As a reward, each person who memorizes 20 or more of these hymns receives a free hardcover hymnal as a keepsake. To view this hymnal go to hymnsofgrace.com. When you have completed your 20 hymns contact our church office to redeem your gift.
To help us learn these hymns, we will also be singing them in our worship services as well as feature one of the hymns each month in our weekly newsletter. Here is our first volume of hymns to memorize below along with our featured hymn for this month.
